Updating firmware
Programming new firmware
To update the firmware on the gauge controller, use the Teensy Loader from PJRC's website. Follow the instructions for the version of the loader downloaded.
You should be able to upgrade to the newest version of firmware and all settings should be saved.
If you downgrade firmware, settings will be returned to default.
* If you are updating from a version older than 1.04, all settings will be reset to default.
If you are running version 1.03 or older and want to keep your settings, update to 1.07 first, then to the latest.
Download Teensy loader
Plug USB cable into controller
Launch Teensy loader
Click the Auto button to turn it light green
Drag new firmware onto teensy app
Press the Program button on the Teensy board
Reset settings to default
If for some reason the controller isn't working correctly, or settings got corrupted, you can enter the command 'settings default' or you can erase the entire flash (program and settings) and restore it to it's original state.
Full erase and restore
If the controller is stuck in a bad state, you can try a full erase of firmware and settings
To clear the controller, hold down the white button while powering it on. Hold the button down until the little red led near the USB connector turns on, it will also start blinking (it might take 20 to 30 seconds for this to happen)
Release the button and wait while it erases the flash and restore the default blink led program. The orange led next to the button will start to flash (this can also take up to 30 seconds). At this point it's back to it's initial state and ready to be programmed. Use the Teensy Loader and load the latest firmware.
Click on version number to download. (recommend using the latest)
Firmware Releases
If clicking the firmware link doesn't download the file, it could be because of browser or firewall settings.
You can try a different browser (for me Chrome blocks the download, Firefox works, and Edge I have to tell it to keep the file)
You can also right clicking on the file name and selecting 'save link as..." and select the location to save it. You might also have to tell the browser to keep the file (it doesn't know if it's dangerous)
